Relay Solutions for Smart Grid

Smart Meters
With the advancement of science and technology and the development of smart grids, the control of home appliances is becoming increasingly intelligent.
Rational use of household electrical equipment can not only save resources, but also ensure the safety of electrical equipment. In the application process of intelligent home appliances, electric energy meters have also joined the ranks of intelligence. Smart meters often use magnetic latching relays to pull and close to achieve load control, arrears in prepaid meters, and electricity theft alarms (open meter cover, open cover, magnetic influence, etc.). The magnetic latching relay is a new type of relay developed in recent years. The normally closed or normally open state completely relies on the action of the permanent magnet, and the switching state is triggered by a pulse electrical signal. The open and closed states of the contacts of a magnetic latching relay are usually maintained by the magnetic force generated by the permanent magnet. When the contacts of the relay need to be in an open or closed state, only forward (reverse) DC pulse voltage is needed to excite the coil, and the relay completes the state transition between open and closed in an instant. Usually when the contacts are in the holding state, the coil does not need to continue to be energized, and the magnetic force of the permanent magnet alone can maintain the state of the relay unchanged. Magnetic latching relays have the characteristics of power saving, stable performance, small size and large carrying capacity. The microcontroller determines the event, and the remote master station or local PC issues commands to control the relay. In this process, the magnetic latching relay plays a key role.

Power distribution
In power systems, intermediate relays are usually used in the control loops of power devices. For example, in distribution cabinets, intermediate relays can be used as starters or relays to control motors. In addition, it can also be used as a signal converter in power protection systems to amplify and isolate signals input from field sensors through relays and then transmit them to the power distribution control room, thereby achieving monitoring and protection of power equipment.

Relay protection
Relay protection is a power system safety assurance technology, and the relay protection device is an anti-accident automatic device for the power system. When the power system is operating normally, the relay protection device does not operate, but only closely monitors the operating status of the power system and its components in real time. Once a fault or abnormal operation occurs, the relay protection device will act quickly to isolate the fault and issue an alarm to ensure the safety of the power system. Therefore, the relay protection device is also called the "protector god" of the power system. It plays an extremely important role in ensuring the safe operation of the system, ensuring power quality, and preventing the expansion of faults and accidents.
